Keepsake Kitchen

Family recipes, preserved

Save your family's recipes
before they fade.

Faded ink. Stained cards. Margin notes in two different handwritings. Send us a photo of the front, the back, and any sticky notes — we transcribe what we can read and give you a place to clarify the tricky bits, then email you a beautifully printed card your family can keep, share, and pass down.

Send this. Get this.

Send everything you've got.

Front of the card. Back of the card. The sticky note your aunt added in 1990. We transcribe what we can read clearly and give you a spot to type out the tricky bits — so nothing gets misread.

Send us the recipe

2

We transcribe carefully

We read what we can and ask about anything tricky — there's a spot on the upload form to type out hard-to-read measurements or notes you want preserved exactly. We rewrite the steps for clarity, never the recipe itself.

Real humans, not a chatbot

There's a person behind every card.

Keepsake Kitchen is a small operation from the team at Grain & Skillet, a family bakery in Northern Virginia. The same hands that knead the sourdough also read every email reply.

If a recipe arrives and something looks off — a misread ingredient, a missing margin note, an attribution we got wrong — just reply to the delivery email. We'll fix it, or refund you. No tickets, no support portal, no scripts.

Questions, answered.

Couldn't I just type this up myself, or use ChatGPT?

You could — and at the end you'd have a wall of text in a chat window or a Word doc that looks like a Word doc. What you're paying us for isn't the transcription; it's a designed printable card you can frame, gift, or slip into a family cookbook. We've sweated the typography, the paper-tone palette, the layout that prints at 8.5x11 or 4x6 without clipping. It's the difference between "I have the recipe in a file somewhere" and "I have something I'd hang on the fridge."

How long does it take?

Most cards are ready and emailed within 5 minutes. Complex multi-page recipes can take up to 15 minutes.

What can I send?

A photo, a scan, a PDF, or even typed-up text. JPG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone photos), WebP, and PDF all work. Up to 5 files per recipe — perfect for the front and back of a card plus that extra sticky note your aunt added. Faded paper, stained cards, cursive — send it as it is.

What if the writing is really hard to read?

We do our best with messy writing, but we won't pretend we can read everything — some recipes are genuinely faded, smudged, or in handwriting only one person ever could parse. The upload form has a "clarify the tricky parts" field where you can type out the measurements or notes that are hard to read. Anything you put there gets preserved exactly. We also flag low-confidence cards before sending, and if anything still looks off when it arrives, just reply — we'll fix it.

Will you change my recipe?

Never. We preserve every measurement, every ingredient, every quirky phrase, every margin note exactly as written. We rewrite only the step instructions for clarity — and only when the original is genuinely hard to follow. Family wisdom ("don't skip the cinnamon"), attributions ("from Aunt Marie's box, 1967"), and the soul of the recipe stay untouched.

What if something doesn't look right?

If a recipe was hard to read, we flag it for review before sending. If anything still looks off when your card arrives, just reply to the email — we'll fix it, or refund you, no questions asked.

What's your refund policy?

100% money-back guarantee on every order, even if you've already received the card. Email us anytime within 30 days.

What happens to my recipes after?

Your originals and finished cards stay available for re-download for 30 days. After that they're permanently deleted from our servers. We never share, sell, or train on your recipes — they're yours.

Is this a good gift?

Yes — a preserved recipe card is a thoughtful gift for a wedding, anniversary, or memorial. The Family Bundle is designed for projects like assembling a printed cookbook from a parent or grandparent's recipe box.
